Happiness and Joy

What is the difference?
I read in a book somewhere this quote:
"Happiness is a result of the circumstances around you, but joy is created in spite of the circumstances around you."

Joy should reflect our character or the inside of us instead of our circumstances or what is on the outside.
Happiness will not get us through hard times because it is only the result of our circumstances at present.

God can give us joy through us being filled with Him. When our circumstances change and we loose our happiness, if we have no joy then we will be left with an empty depressed feeling. But if we have joy from God at all times we will always be content, even when the world offers us nothing to be happy about.
