"Fear the Lord."
What does it mean to fear the Lord? That is a question that I have wondered about since I was little. Am I to be afraid of God? That makes no sense. Why should I be afraid of something/someone who loves me so much?
Psalm 34:9
Fear the Lord, you His saints, for those that fear Him lack nothing.
1Samuel 12:24
But be sure to fear the Lord and serve Him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you.
Fear means to be in awe or wonder of- awe means to have reverence for- reverence means respect, admiration, regard, esteem, adoration, and praise.
So to "Fear the Lord" means I must respect Him, admire Him, praise Him, and be in awe of Him.
So now read those verses again.
Psalm 34:9
"Respect" (or admire, be in awe of, praise, etc.) the Lord your God, you His saints, for those who "respect" Him lack nothing.
1Samuel 12:24
But be sure to "adore" the Lord and serve Him faithfully with all your heat; consider what great things he has done for you.
Proverbs 31:30
Charm is deceptive and beauty is passing; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
I hope by reading this you gained a better understanding of what it means to "fear the Lord."
Love you guys,
Gracie
