Mission's Update from the Philppines

The weather has finally cooled down a bit!  We have witnessed incredible lighting shows, better than any fireworks back home; the thunder shakes the walls and reminds us Who’s in control!  I wish I could share pictures, but my computer has literally melted.  Please pray that it can be repaired.

We have been working among the people of the 12th Street Area, a neighborhood of makeshift houses along the waterfront that is undesirable to live in because it floods regularly.  Our team has been running three youth programs each Saturday starting in the morning with the 4 to 6 year olds and ending in the evening with young people 13 to 20 years old.  We worship, play games, teach from the Bible and teach about various health care issues.  This weekend we taught the oldest group how to use the Gospel Bracelets and challenged them to share with someone this week.

We are leading the Women’s Bible Study and Devotion on Tuesday Nights. I will teach tomorrow night on Rahab.  And the men are leading the Men’s Bible Study on Sunday Nights.

We visited the local hospital, giving sweetbread to the children. And we set up a clinic to minister to the women, in the City Prison.  We have also befriended some of the “Bar Girls” and hope to invite them to church and give them hope.

Prayer Requests…
  • Pray for our team’s energy, unity, safety and effectiveness.  Just 2-weeks left in the Philippines! We will be back in Kona, Hawaii May 28th for team debrief and graduation celebrations.
  • Pray for our host missionary Sonny (63) who fell and broke 2 bones and dislocated his ankle.
  • Pray for those that have experienced God’s love through the health care they’ve received and the Gospel they’ve heard.  Pray that they will be plugged into a good Bible teaching church and that they will grow in their new faith in Jesus Christ.
  •  Pray for those of us that is getting homesick.  It’s been 4½ months since we’ve seen our families and slept in our own beds.
